Blue Letter 03.14.14

Dear SAA Families,
Attached are the following pages in this week's Blue Envelope:

Parent Teacher Conferences - Also, please know that next week, Thursday, March 20, and Friday, March 21, are the PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES.  This time we will have an OPEN-HOUSE FORMAT.  Most full-time teacher and some of the part-timers will be here from 3:00-5:00PM BOTH THOSE DAYS in order to meet with you.  There are no pre-scheduled times, just stop in.  Please keep the meetings short and to the point if there are other people waiting.  As always, please feel free to arrange meetings with any of us any time in order to speak in greater detail about anything.  [Mr. Van Hecke will be at WASC so may not be here Wednesday.  He will be there Thursday.]

Additionally - Prayer - I was reminded this morning about the horrible struggles for religious freedom going on around the world.  We are battling some in the US, but it takes on the shape of full-scale civil wars in some countries around the world, RIGHT NOW.  Great persecution and desecration's are happening in the Christian country of Venezuela, similar horrors can be found in the Middle East and Africa.  Let us to remember to pray for persecuted Christians around the world, as we pray for TRUE world peace in all the right ways!

2012 Auction Letter and Donation Forms

Dear Business Owner:

St. Augustine Academy is a local, private K-12 grade school, providing a unique Catholic education to many children in our local community. We have a challenging liberal arts education in a moral setting for the well-being of each student. Every year, since 2007, we have been named to the Catholic High School Honor Roll, designating us as one of the Top 50 Catholic High Schools in America. In the education world, we are a real “Hometown Hero!”

Yet, we are supported entirely by tuition and charitable donations and no one is ever turned away due to a lack of funds. We get no money from the diocese, as we are an independent school in Ventura County.

Annually we host an elegant affair consisting of dinner, dancing and an auction. This year’s event, Swinging with the Big Band, will be at the Ronald Reagan Library in Simi Valley and we expect 300 people in attendance.

This year’s event will be held on November 17, 2012.

An auction can only benefit us if we have items to offer. Any and all items would be appreciated and most businesses donate if they are able.
Will you consider helping us by making a donation?

As a thank you to our donors, we will be advertising their businesses in our auction program.

Thank you for your consideration.
You can contact me at (805) 672-0435 with any questions.

Spiritual Bouquet April 2012

As a community, St. Augustine’s invites you to contribute to a very special prayer intention during this month of Mercy. We have been praying for Angel Castillo, Rosie Grimm and Katie Kaiser, and would like to increase our prayers and support them in their journey of healing in a special way during the month of May. Will you join us?

We are collecting a spiritual bouquet to gift Mrs. Castillo, Miss Grimm, and Katie. A spiritual bouquet is a gift of prayers, or a collection of prayers. We pray for God’s mercy, healing, and love to embrace them. We pray for their families, may they always be strong in faith, hope, and stamina. We pray for all doctors and caregivers to have wisdom and a profound appreciation for the gift of their lives, and all life.

Please fill out the form below with your contributions to this spiritual bouquet, and return it in the blue envelope on Tuesday.

Catholic Identity Assessment

In the process of our self-evaluation for accreditation by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and the Western Catholic Educational Association (WCEA), we ask all stakeholders to participate in an assessment of the Catholic identity of Saint Augustine Academy.

The link below provides you access to the three sections to rate specific characteristics and current practices in our school that reflect its Catholic identity. You will then be asked for suggestions to assist in better directing our efforts to carry out our Mission Statement and School Philosophy.

We value your input and will use the results as a tool for improvement of our school.
Thank you for honest response to the items that follow.
